Biography
Vail Health welcomes Julie L. Barone, DO, FACS to Vail Health’s surgical and oncology teams. Dr. Barone is a breast oncoplastic surgeon and the Medical Director of the Breast Care Program at Shaw Cancer Center. She previously practiced in San Diego and was the director of Comprehensive Breast Care of San Diego.
Dr. Barone is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology and American Society of Breast Surgeons. She served on the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer as the State Chair for California. She is active locally with the American Cancer Society and Polite Tumor. She also served on the board of directors for Sense of Security. Currently, Dr. Barone is a principle investigator for several clinical trials including molecular tumor subtyping as well as product development to improve outcomes in breast surgery. Her clinical interests include oncoplastic procedures, minimally invasive breast procedures, nipple-sparing mastectomy, high-risk management, and genetic testing and counseling.
