Biography
Dr. Turner Lisle is a general surgeon board-certified by the American Board of Surgery. His practice focuses on the surgical and non-surgical treatment of abdominal wall pathology. He is a specialist in open, laparoscopic and da Vinci robotic approaches to inguinal, umbilical, ventral and incisional hernias as well as abdominal wall reconstruction for complex or recurrent ventral/incisional hernias.
Dr. Lisle was born and raised in Grand Junction, Colorado and earned a bachelor of science degree in Biology and a minor in Neurobiology from Colorado State University. He received his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine where he graduated summa cum laude and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
Dr. Lisle then went on the complete his internship, residency and fellowship at the prestigious University of Virginia Surgical Program in Charlottesville, Virginia. While in Virginia, he received the Mulholland Resident and Fellow Teaching Award, the Hugh Shepherd Warren Award as well as the C. Walton Lillehei Award.
Following his training, Dr. Lisle joined a thriving surgical practice at The Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was instrumental in establishing and overseeing The Comprehensive Hernia Center at Martha Jefferson Hospital.
Dr. Lisle has conducted research in surgery of the groin and anterior abdominal wall as well as the inflammatory effects of cardiopulmonary bypass. He has authored or co-authored several articles in peer reviewed medical journals. He has authored book chapters and has presented his research at regional, national and international meetings.
Dr. Lisle is involved in the Americas Hernia Society Quality Collaborative and serves as the Director of the Vail Health Hernia Center. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He also is the acting Trauma Program Medical Director at Vail Health and serves as the Medical Director to Apex Mountain School.
Dr. Lisle lives in Edwards, Colorado with his wife and daughter.
