Childbirth Team

Vail Health's childbirth team includes registered nurses, obstetricians, neonatal nurse practitioners and the Vail Babies Nurse Navigator in the care of healthy babies and NICU patients. 

The nurses of the Family Birth Center are experienced in caring for antepartum (before delivery), laboring, postpartum (after delivery) and C-section patients, as well as full-term infants and infants in the Level II Nursery. Many of our staff members have obtained nursing certifications to establish their level of expertise in the care of women and infants. Our nurses carry advanced nursing certifications, demonstrating passion and dedication for perinatal nursing.
 

The Family Birth Center's NNPs are master's degree prepared nurses with expertise in the care of infants. They are available 24/7 to assist in the care of infants who require additional attention with oxygen, IV therapy, antibiotics, medications and other measures. They work closely with our pediatricians and nurses to ensure that these infants receive the best care, and they are an invaluable resource in keeping the Level II Nursery functioning optimally. They are in close contact with telemedicine, tele-echocardiography, and consultation with pediatric subspecialists at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children Level IV NICU.
 

Obstetricians and family practice physicians from Colorado Mountain Medical care for antepartum (before delivery), laboring, and postpartum (after delivery) patients. Together, they provide 24/7 coverage for pregnant and postpartum women.
 

Vail Babies Nurse Navigator

Thank you for choosing Vail Health Family Birth Center for your labor and delivery. As part of your experience with us, we are excited to offer you an introductory appointment with our Vail Babies Nurse Navigator, who will serve as a guide and provide resources and support during this special time. This initial meeting is a private, pre-planning appointment, which can be conducted in person or over Zoom. You must be at least 32 weeks pregnant at the time and have established prenatal care with a provider of your choice.

The Nurse Navigator will offer you and your support person a personal guide through pregnancy and delivery. She can give you a private tour of the Family Birth Center, and you will have opportunities to share your preferences and provide any information that will help our staff best understand how to care for you. She will also take a brief health history to allow for a quicker admission process when you arrive on your big day. The goal of this complimentary service is to provide a personalized, concierge-style experience for expecting parents.

• One-on-one review of breastfeeding resources, lactation consultant services and products available for purchase or rent (such as breast pumps and other nursing supplies).
