Accounts Receivable Specialist

About the opportunity:

Under the direction of leadership this position is responsible for accounts receivable, cash posting and credit balance review functions. This position assembles data and composes various reports as requested.

 
What you will do:
    1. Cash posting duties include the application of daily payments to patients’ accounts, ensuring payments, allowances, adjustments, and denials are posted accurately and in a timely manner.
    2. Prepares deposits, records general ledger (GL) entries, performs batch reconciliations and investigates discrepancies.
    3. Credit balance review duties include reviewing, researching, and analyzing accounts receivable credit balances.
    4. Demonstrates high working knowledge of managed care contracts and major third party payers.
    5. Assist Accounting Manager with monthly closing processes including but not limited to: generating various billing system reports and reconciliation of accounts.
    6. Assists with tracking denials and identifying causality relations between delays in payment and denials and variables such as procedure codes, insurers, or physicians and communicates findings to billing/collections office.
    7. Assists with the annual external audit by preparing schedules and gathering requests as needed.
    8. Assembles data and composes special reports as requested by the Accounting Manager or Director of Business Operations.
    9. On an as needed basis will assist and back-up other front office staff positions.
    10. Actively participates as a collaborative member of the department team by communicating constructively, identifying business office and interdepartmental problems, and resolving conflicts appropriately.
    11. Demonstrates professional conduct and appearance and is accountable for actions and outcomes.
    12. Demonstrates ability to give and receive peer review and feedback and incorporates this into his or her work.
    13. Role models the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
    14. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

What you will need:
 
Experience:
  • Must have a minimum of one years accounting experience.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in a physician office, hospital, or ambulatory facility and/or revenue cycle experience helpful.
License(s):

Certification(s):
  • N/A
Computer / Typing:
  • Must have strong/advanced EXCEL skills.
  • Knowledge of McKesson GL and MM systems helpful.
  • Position also requires use of ten-key calculator by touch and basic math skills.
  • Spelling accuracy and enjoyment of detailed clerical work.
  • Courtesy, patience, and tact when dealing with the public, patients, and staff.
  • Ability to work under variable conditions, well organized, dependable, and flexible.
  • A team player.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
 
Education:
  • Associates degree, technical training or minimum two year related experience required.
  • College degree in Finance, Accounting, or Healthcare Administration preferred.

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.

Hourly Pay:
$22.60$27.55 USD
