About the opportunity:

The Inpatient Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a pivotal role in supporting the care and treatment of patients within the Precourt Healing Center (PHC). This position involves providing direct care to individuals experiencing behavioral health issues, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment, and assisting in the implementation of treatment plans under the guidance of clinical staff.

 
 
What you will need:
  • Provides direct patient care including obtaining and recording vital signs, assistance with daily living activities, crisis intervention, emotional support, education, maintaining patient documentation, and completing administrative duties.
  • Responsible for working with the treatment team to develop and deliver culturally responsive, trauma informed, and developmentally appropriate curriculum for both group and individual patient engagement.
  • Monitors and assists patients with daily living activities including documentation of routine safety checks.
  • Provides emotional support and encouragement to patients, as well as staff, by fostering a positive and respectful atmosphere.
  • Provides direct patient care for crisis intervention and behavior management, utilizing de-escalation techniques as needed.
  • Maintains a clean and organized environment conducive to recovery. Ensures cleanliness, adequate stock of supplies and functioning equipment in patient care areas. Replaces supplies depleted on a daily basis. Cleans and prepares patient care areas, equipment, and tools. Completes shift opening and closing procedures.
  • Serves to create a therapeutic milieu through engagement in activities and patient engagement.
  • Accurately documents patient behaviors, interactions, and progress in medical records reporting any significant changes in patient condition or behavior to nursing and clinical staff promptly.
  • Actively participates in treatment team meetings to discuss patient care and contribute input on care plans.
  • Collaborates effectively with the PHC treatment team, as well as team members across the behavioral health service line, and the entire health system.
  • Participates in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills related to patient care in behavioral health settings.
  • Educates patients and their families about behavioral health issues, patient rights, treatment processes, and coping strategies, as appropriate.
  • Ensures compliance with local, internal, state, federal, and regulatory standards and compliance including quality assurance, safety, infection control, and environmental procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Role models the principals of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.
 
Experience:
  • Two years of experience in direct patient care or community behavioral health experience preferred
  • Experience with crisis intervention and management of acute psychiatric conditions strongly preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

 

License(s):
  • N/A
Certification(s):
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification from Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or Therapeutic Options™, or equivalent training preferred
  • LivingWorks START or QPR Training preferred
  • LivingWorks ASIST preferred
  • Adult and/or Youth Mental Health First Aid training preferred
Computer / Typing:
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
 
Education:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.

Hourly Pay:
$25.47$35.98 USD
