About the opportunity:
 
The Inpatient Facility Therapeutic Specialist is responsible for providing holistic therapeutic support to patients within an inpatient setting. This position encompasses various therapeutic modalities, including music therapy, art therapy, yoga therapy, and general therapeutic practices, aiming to enhance patients' emotional, psychological, and physical well-being.
 
What you will do:
  1. Therapeutic Interventions:
    • Facilitate complimentary therapy sessions to promote self-expression, emotional processing, and social interaction.
    • Lead complimentary therapeutic activities that encourage creativity, emotional exploration and development.
    • Utilize other therapeutic modalities as appropriate to meet patients' needs, including movement therapy and exercise.
  2. Group Facilitation:
    • Organize and conduct group therapy sessions focused on skill-building, emotional regulation, and interpersonal connections using music and art.
    • Foster a supportive group environment that encourages participation and collaboration among patients.
  3. Monitoring:
    • Regularly communicate updates and collaborate with the treatment team to refine therapeutic interventions based on patient needs.
  4. Professional Development:
    • Stay current with best practices, emerging trends, and research in music therapy, art therapy, and general therapeutic techniques.
    • Participate in continuous education and training to enhance therapeutic skills and knowledge.
  5. Compliance and Ethics:
    • Adhere to all facility policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards in practice.
    • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations in all patient interactions.
    • Communicate any necessary observations or concerns to staff in a timely and professional manner to ensure the highest standard of care and to foster a collaborative work environment.
  6. Safety and Environment:
    • Ensure a safe and supporting environment for both patients and staff, following all facility safety protocols and procedures.

What you will need:
 

Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure in music therapy, yoga, or art therapy is preferred.
  • Prior experience in an inpatient facility or clinical setting is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Working Conditions: This position may require flexibility in scheduling to accommodate patient needs, including evenings and weekends. The therapeutic specialist will work directly with patients in various stages of treatment, necessitating a compassionate and resilient attitude.
